There doesn’t really need to be an excuse for daytime drinking, but if you insist on one, there’s always the Downtown Food & Wine Fest over at Lake Eola. The annual event is in its eighth iteration, and it’s presenting you with as many options as ever. Dive right into meals from over 30 local eateries while pairing your plate with your choice of 50 domestic and imported wines. Don’t forget the music, either; the two-day event has a full schedule of solo acts and bands, from the Brooklyn-based, alternative-sounding American Authors to the longtime rockers known as Firefall. Bring along a blanket to lie on or a chair to rest in, because you’ll be eating and drinking even after the sun goes down.

noon-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, noon-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28 | Lake Eola Park, North Rosalind Avenue and East Robinson Street | downtownfoodandwinefest.cbslocal.com | $20
