Sarasota Film Festival to honor Sophia Loren on March 31

The Sarasota Film Festival presents screen legend Sophia Loren with the 2016 Legend Award on March 31, one day before the festival officially begins.

“An Evening with Sophia Loren” will be held at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota.

The 18th annual festival will run through April 10. This is the first year in more than a decade that the event does not completely overlap Orlando’s Florida Film Festival. The latter event runs April 8-17 this year, which will make it easier for Orlando and Sarasota residents to attend both festivals, which are arguably the two best in the state.

The full lineup of films for both the Sarasota and Florida film festivals will be announced March 16. For more information on the Sarasota Film Festival, see
