It's time to say goodbye to our beloved Orlando Citrus Bowl. Well, at least to its name.
On Tuesday, Florida Citrus Sports announced that the downtown Orlando arena will now be known as Camping World Stadium, reports News 13
"I'm proud to announce that today Camping World ... now has the naming rights and a lot more at a stadium in Orlando, Florida known as Citrus Bowl," Marcus Lemonis, chairman and CEO of Camping World and Good Sam Enterprises, announced in a video on Twitter
"Part of the reason that we got involved in the stadium in Orlando is to really work on bringing family-centric activities to the center of fun, which I think is Orlando," Lemonis said.
The name change means that the first NCAA Kickoff bowl game
to be held this fall will now be called the Camping World Kickoff. The game, between Florida State and Ole Miss, is the first in a series hoping to bring big collegiate rivalries to Orlando.
According to News 13, Steve Hogan, CEO of Florida Citrus Sports, the new branding will grow the Central Florida economy and "improve the quality of life for Central Floridians."
"The commitment to both the stadium and the Camping World Kickoff series will ensure that together we deliver on our promises to this community for years to come, and build on the rich heritage of this venue," he said.
