Don't You Wish We Were Dead, the documentary on flamboyant and incendiary OG punks the Damned, will be screening for one night only in Orlando next week.

A co-production of Park Ave CDs and the Enzian Theater, the film will be shown at the aforementioned Enzian at 9:30 pm on Monday, May 2nd that's it.

The Damned, improbably, given their somewhat explosive interpersonal dynamics, are somehow the last punks standing from the UK class of '76. The band has included, at various times, at least four larger than life personalities in guitarist Captain Sensible, guitarist Brian James, singer Dave Vanian and drummer Rat Scabies. They've released some of the earliest punk vinyl ("New Rose"), blazed DIY trails with Stiff Records, became infamous for bratty onstage and offstage antics, had a brief goth phase (had to shoehorn that in there) and, somewhat crucially, never really stopped playing..

The film is directed by Wes Orschoski and is his follow-up to Lemmy, the warts-and-all (swish) documentary on Motorhead's leader Lemmy Kilmister. Looks promising. Definitely sounds promising.
