Central Florida teens have close encounter with great white shark near Ponce Inlet

Two Central Florida teens got a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with a massive great white shark last Sunday.

According to WPTV, Wylie Phelan and Taylor Magone of Port Orange, were fishing for grouper at around 12:30 p.m. near Ponce Inlet, Florida, when they saw a 16-foot "grey shadow."

"He probably did 20 or so circles around the boat," said Magone to WPTV, "I was just holding the camera and just sticking it in the water so I could get some great shots of him."

The two 18-year-olds were roughly 32 miles from shore in about 120 feet of water around, reports the Daytona Beach News Journal
