Like teen pop stars, books are subject to a rise-and-then-fall popularity curve. So those 50 copies of, say, Gone Girl the library purchased last summer to keep up with borrowers' demands, well ... this summer about 48 of them are probably twiddling their thumbs on the shelf. Their downfall is your windfall, though, as deaccessioned library books make up a significant part of the Friends of the Library book sale at the downtown Orlando Public Library. Come find a stack of beach reads plus audiobooks, DVDs, CDS and vinyl at rock-bottom prices. To get even better prices plus first crack at the good stuff, join Friends of the Library ($15 at the door) and you can get 10 percent off and attend the members-only presale Thursday evening. Stacks on stacks on stacks.

members-only preview, 5-7 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday | Orlando Public Library, 101 E. Central Blvd. | 407-835-7323 | ocls.info | free
