More details revealed on Lake Ivanhoe Mexican restaurant Mesa21

When Mexican eatery Mesa21 opens in the old Gargi's space on the shores of Lake Ivanhoe this October, patrons can expect "the most authentic Mexican food in America."

Tommy Rios, one of the partners in the venture, says the impetus for the full-service restaurant was the lack of "real authentic Mexican cuisine on American soil."

Thems is strong words but, adds Rios, "the unique menu with delicious authentic Mexican dishes will leave your taste buds asking for more."

Here's hoping Rios and his team backs those words up. We know that tortillas will be handmade on-site, and trompo tacos like al pastor and sirloin will be offered from a vertical spit. Costras (like tacos except the tortilla is made from cheese) will also be a menu staple. Another promise: a tequila menu "that's second to none" thanks to a partnership made with Casa Cuervo in Mexico and Proximo Spirits in the U.S.

A chef's table experience will also be offered.

As far as the space itself, the two renderings posted here will give you an idea as to the extensive renovations the current building will undergo. Two bars will run from the inside of the restaurant to the covered and temperature-controlled patio.

In the meantime, folks can check out the fast-casual version of Mesa21 when it opens on Highway 50 in Clermont this June.

Others Mesa 21 locations are planned for Windermere and Maitland.
