Florida isn't known as the Gunshine State for nothing. George Zimmerman's recent sale of the pistol he used to kill 17-year-old Trayvon Martin prompts a needed conversation by locals on guns and their impact on society. Why not start with a free screening of Making a Killing: Guns, Greed and the NRA this weekend at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando? The 2016 documentary looks into the gun violence that affects everyday Americans and the gun companies resisting stricter gun regulations. The event, presented by the Global Peace Film Festival, the League of Women Voters, and the Peace & Justice Initiative at Valencia College, aims to join together groups who want common-sense gun laws.
