Almost a month after a mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse that left 49 dead, protesters are holding a sit-in at U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio's Orlando office asking him to take a stand on gun control and against homophobic legislation.
Robin Harris, one of the leaders of the coalition of local groups, says #SitInForThe49 protesters plan to stay inside the building at 201 S. Orange Ave. for the next 49 hours in honor of those killed at Pulse, who were majority LGBT and Latino. Harris says the group has presented Rubio's office with their demands.
The sit-in also turned into a #BlackLivesMatter sit-in because some of the attendees were the same people who went to Sunday night's rally.
