MTV's 'True Life' will debut episode on survivors of Pulse mass shooting

MTV is debuting "True Life: We are Orlando" on Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. with an episode focusing on survivors of the mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse that killed 49 and injured 53.

MTV says in a news release that the show will center on four survivors "as they try to come to terms with the trauma and get their lives back on track." The Orlando Sentinel reports the survivors include: Tony Marrero, seen in the video above, who shot four times and lost his friend; Patience Carter and Tiara Parker, who lost their friend Akyra Monet Murray; and Joshua McGill, who helped one of the victims during the shooting.

The network says starting Monday, it will release videos while production on the show is ongoing.

"The episode and accompanying digital series will also feature interviews with additional Orlando-based LGBTQ community members who will show their determination and resiliency as they speak out about how the tragic event has changed their entire community," MTV says.
