The Wekiva Basin Brewing has submitted plans to the city of Sanford to construct a 3,500-square-foot brewery and tap room inside an old train depot at 212 W. 1st Street.

The space will also include an open marketplace, called 1st Street Market, similar to Plant Street Market in Winter Garden.

The project will include space for market vendors with an expansion planned to hold the brewery and deck space for outdoor seating.

A group named 212 First Street LLC recently purchased the property for $565,000, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

According to local blog The Bokey, this will mark the fifth brewery being built in the Sanford area.

Brewery partner and property purchaser Sean Kelley told The Bokey that he has no plans to serve food in the taproom, but guests can bring in local food options from the market.

The company is currently recruiting vendors for the market space.

Orlando City Builders Group and BHM Architects of Lake Mary are part of the project team that will take on the build, which is slated to be completed within a year.
