Two airlines will soon be flying direct to Haiti out of Orlando International.

During today's Board of Commissioners bi-monthly meeting, President of the Board, Orange County mayor Theresa Jacobs, announced that the month of May will be known as "Haitian Heritage Month."

This announcement was accented with the news that starting on October 17, Sunrise Airways will fly to Port Au Prince three times a week. JetBlue will also begin their Haitian flights in December, which will fly seven times a week.

Central Florida is home to eight of the largest Haitian Communities in the country.
