Lakeland-based grocer Publix took the top spot in a recent survey searching for our country's favorite supermarkets.

According to an annual survey from Market Force Information, Publix shared the No. 1 spot with New York-based supermarket Wegmans.

The survey involved 12,774 grocery-loving adults, who were tasked to power-rank 23 different supermarkets on topic like cleanliness, ease of searching, friendly staff, and checkout speed.

Publix was first in checkout speed, item availability, ease of searching, and most importantly, cleanliness. They also took second in cashier courtesy, and specialty department services.

The worst category they fared in was the "value for money" category, in which Publix did not even place within the top 15.
