Nick Lutz, the UCF senior who brutally "graded" his ex-girlfriend's apology letter, has been cleared of suspension charges.

Lutz filed an appeal after the university suspended him on Tuesday for tweeting about the letter nearly five months ago. UCF sent Lutz a letter declaring his actions to be violations of the disruption and cyber-bullying portions of the university's code of conduct.

The Miami Herald reports that the student's lawyer, Jacob Stuart, called the university's suspension a violation of Lutz's First Amendment Rights. He went on to say, "It was obvious he was making fun of her, but that's the beauty of the constitution."

After the appeal, UCF changed its tune about Lutz's actions, responding with the statement: "Though your reported behavior is concerning, it does not appear to be an expressed violation of a Rule of Conduct."

Lutz, who will resume his business marketing classes this fall, told WFTV, "Looking back at it now, it's probably the craziest thing that will ever happen in my life."
