Welcome to Orlando Weekly's "Band of the Week." Every week, we highlight one of our favorite local bands. This week, we're pleased to bring you Howling Midnight.

Howling Midnight is playing their album release show at Will's Pub on August 26 with the Ludes, Bubble Boys, and Lionscissors.

Just the facts:

Who's in the band?
  • Scott Padawer, drums
  • Shawn Corbett, guitar and vocals
When did the band form?
Late 2014

Currently available releases:
We have a self titled release available on iTunes and Amazon.

Websites:
We're probably most active on Facebook but we will be setting up a Bandcamp for people to download our album for free.

Describe your sound in five words:
Intense cornucopia of sonic proportions

Five questions:

What has been your most memorable show so far?
We played a sleepy Sunday show at Will's with Heavy Drag and ended up getting our first write up in the Weekly. Thanks, Bao!

Which local band is your favorite one to play a show with?
We pretty much enjoy all the bands we get to play with but we really like watching the Woolly Bushmen, the Ludes, and Copper Bones.

What description gets used for your band that you would most
like to correct people on? Why?
Probably the misconception that because we're a two-piece that we can't be dynamic or even full-sounding. Also we get compared to the Black Keys a lot and we just don't really see it. Ha!

What’s your favorite thing about being an Orlando band? What's your least favorite? Why?
Our favorite thing is the weather because no one will ever miss a show because of a blizzard. The least favorite thing is being so far away from other states making weekend shows in different markets kind of hard.

Any big news to share?
Yes, Scott's pregnant. Also did we mention we have a new album coming out August 26th?
