BurgerFi to start serving Beyond Burger, the plant-based burger that 'bleeds'

Non-meat-eaters who still crave a classic burger will soon have a new choice when dining out: "Better burger" chain BurgerFi will start serving the Beyond Burger at all of its locations Monday, Sept. 4.

The Beyond Burger, created by Beyond Meat, has made waves in the vegan and vegetarian community since becoming widely available this year. It's a vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, plant-based protein patty that "bleeds" beet juice, for those who miss not only the flavor and texture of real meat but also the sensation of ripping into your prey a juicy, chin-dribbling, stacked burger.

BurgerFi (which has six area locations) will serve a vegetarian version topped with pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, ketchup and American cheese, as well as a vegan option without mayonnaise and cheese, served in a lettuce wrap. They're the first burger chain to serve the Beyond Burger nationwide.

This could be a game-changer for Labor Day weekend, veggies. Beyond Burgers are also available at Orlando-area Whole Foods Markets.
