In response to football players bringing attention to racial injustice by kneeling during the national anthem, a Florida restaurant is offering a free hot dog to anyone willing to toss their NFL merchandise into a community bonfire.
Coney Island Drive-Inn
in Brooksville, Florida, is hosting a "Celebration of Patriotism" this Sunday for anyone triggered enough by the image of people kneeling that they're willing to burn hundreds of dollars of merchandise for a "world famous footlong."
"There is a right and wrong way to show your displeasure," said owner John Lee to the Tampa Bay Times
, "and turning your back on this country's values is the wrong way."
"We want the opposite of what we saw on TV," continued Lee. "We want a display of patriotism shared by many people in this community."
The organizers also plan to collect donations for hurricane victims in Puerto Rico, so that's nice.
