So it begins.
Florida Republican congressman Matt Gaetz, who last summer filed a bill going after Hillary Clinton that was sourced from a Reddit conspiracy group
, submitted a resolution today calling from the recusal of Robert Mueller
from the special council investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
Gaetz, who wrote the resolution, accuses Mueller of having a conflict of interest because he was serving as FBI chief when the Obama administration approved the Uranium One Deal in 2010.
Gaetz feels that despite evidence of corruption in the deal, Mueller's FBI did not produce any charges, so therefore he should recuse himself from the current Russia investigation. Unfortunately Gaetz's resolution casually ignores the fact the FBI did bring charges in the uranium case under former FBI Director James Comey, who Trump fired.
As of today, Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Louis Gohmert (R-Texas), both members of the House’s conservative Freedom Caucus, had signed on to Gaetz’s bill, reports Business Insider.
As of now, there's no evidence that that the uranium deal is being investigated by Mueller's team.
