The Florida Department of Transportation recently awarded OPD a $46,000 grant to help reduce the number of accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists, according

The grant will fund efforts from Dec. 4 to May 15, 2018
to increase on-street education and enforcement measures focused on unsafe behavior from motorists, bike riders
These enforcement measures will take place from early morning to late afternoon.
In 2o12, OPD began using the "Best Foot Forward
" pedestrian safety initiative. According to the organization, on average 15 people in the Central Florida region each week are struck by cars while crossing the street.
Earlier this year Orlando was the only U.S. city to make We Love Cycling
's list for 10 worst cities for bike riders.
Florida also took the top spot for worst states for cycling.
