Yesterday, Toys R Us announced plans to close up to 182 stores across the country, including three locations in the Orlando area.
The stores include a location in Altamonte Springs (708 W. State Road 436), a Babies R Us store in Kissimmee (2601 W. Osceola Parkway) and a Toys R Us store in Kissimmee (3214 John Young Parkway).
The company says stores are expected to start closing in February.
The announcement is part of the company's plan to restructure after filing for bankruptcy. Overall, the company will reduce its fleet of stores by 20 percent. However, the new bankruptcy plan still has to be approved by a judge.
Part of the plan also includes combining Babies R Us and Toys R Us locations under one roof.
"The reinvention of our brands requires that we make tough decisions about our priorities and focus," said Toys R Us Chief Executive Dave Brandon said in a letter posted on the company's website.
