There’s something magical in the water in St. Augustine, and Sing Out Loud Music Festival has certainly tapped into it. Today, the fourth-year, month-long and mostly free-to-attend festival announced its 2019 headlining acts, and the lineup is a doozy for fans of Americana, country, folk, rock, punk and even hip-hop.
Son Volt, Kurt Vile, Jenny Lewis, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, The Growlers, GZA and Hot Water Music will all play free shows, but the real kicker is what appears to be the only Southeastern appearance for Grammy-winning country star Kacey Musgraves, whose Sept. 21 concert at The Amp is the lone donation-based reserved seating event on Sing Out Loud’s itinerary which runs from Sept. 6-29.
Other highlights announced on Monday morning announcement include Shovels & Rope, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Propagandhi, Subhumans, Phosphorescent, Lucie Silvas, The Menzingers, Dave Hause and Raye Zaragoza. More than 200 more acts will be announced as part of a festival that stages free concerts at venues scattered across the city. Details about a soon-to-be-released Intuition Ale Works Sing Out Loud beer and Sound Diplomacy music industry development series should also become available as the festival approaches.
Tickets for Musgrave’s Sept. 21 show — where proceeds benefit the nonprofit Horseplay Therapy Center and Green Hands Community Outreach Initiatives serving children with special needs — go on sale Friday, March 15 at 10 a.m. EDT. Pricing has not yet been announced.
