Cleveland Browns sign former Orlando Apollos quarterback Garrett Gilbert

After the Alliance of American Football officially collapsed on Tuesday, Orlando Apollos quarterback Garrett Gilbert was, once again, out of a job.

That is, until the Cleveland Browns signed Gilbert earlier today, the team announced on Twitter, where he'll serve as the third-string quarterback behind returning starter and fellow Lake Travis High School graduate Baker Mayfield and veteran backup Drew Stanton.

The terms of Gilbert's contract with Cleveland remain unclear.

A former sixth-round NFL pick for the former St. Louis Rams (who have since moved to Los Angeles), Gilbert led the AAF in passing statistics, with 2,152 yards and 13 touchdowns through the air this season with the Apollos.

Prior to its folding, the Apollos led the AAF with a 7-1 record.
