Jesus Christ! Do you have what it takes to be the singing, dancing, guitar-playing Messiah in long-lived musical Jesus Christ Superstar? Pray on it overnight, because auditions for the role of the titular Jesus will be happening Saturday in Orlando as part of worldwide auditions for the role.

The Jesus chosen during this search will headline a new U.S./Canada tour of the hit musical, helmed by Timothy Sheader, Tom Deering and Drew McOnie

Potential Christs are encouraged to listen to the Ian Gillen version of the stage show and character details include:

[JESUS] Rock tenor; 20s-30s. Chest voice B2-Bb4, powerful falsetto/scream up to G5. This role demands a well-rounded, rich middle register that also has a super extended upper register with virtuosity coupled with sensitive musicianship. Think Jim Morrison meets Steven Tyler. A true “rock star”, comfortable addressing a group of 12 or an arena of 12,000. This role does not dance but must be comfortable moving. A performer with strong individual identity, ability to communicate beyond the fourth wall in a very large house and be free and creative during the rehearsal process. MUST PLAY GUITAR. WILL NEED TO PLAY AT THE AUDITION. GUITAR WILL NOT BE PROVIDED – MUST BRING YOUR OWN!

Jesus Christ Superstar auditions are at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on April 20 at 1 p.m.
