Gatorland is celebrating 70 years of jaw-snapping thrills this month with its first "Gatorpalooza Fun Fest."

The alligator capital of the world kicks off Gatorpalooza on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a press release. The reptiles that call Gatorland home will be joined that day by live music, artisans, vendors, games and giveaways.

Guests who attend the birthday bash will also receive a 20 percent discount on Gatorland's annual passes and get zip line specials.

Gatorpalooza is included in the price of single-day admission, and a portion of the proceeds raised that day will go to the Boy Scouts of Central Florida.

"We are thrilled to be celebrating our 70th anniversary with the public in a big way with our very own Gatorpalooza," Mark McHugh, president and CEO of Gatorland, says in a statement. "And we're only getting started. We have more fun, more announcements and more new park features coming the rest of this year. So you won't want to miss our ongoing anniversary celebration in 2019."

Gatorland was opened by Owen Godwin in 1949 and has been attracting tourists to its spot at 14501 S. Orange Blossom Trail for decades.
