New wave also-ran Joe Jackson has made himself a successful second-act career based on his musical chops. The 64-year-old Brit has always had a toe in musical waters more esoteric than the general pop landscape – see his 1982 jazz-disco hit “Steppin’ Out,” for example – and he ended up ditching pop completely for a period in the late ’90s. His most recent album, Fool, is his best-performing album in years, and relies on merging Jackson’s masterful songwriting with his love of improvisational jazz performance. This current tour is focused on showing off Jackson’s accomplishments over four decades of music, meaning you’re absolutely going to hear the hits.

7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 | The Plaza Live, 425 N. Bumby Ave. | 407-228-1220 | | $39-$70
