A bit of the grape at touch of mouse

Wine tastings on the web? It was just a matter of time. It's a new concept from Wine Country (272 W. New England Ave., Winter Park; 629-7191), which specializes in superior labels at jack-cheap prices -- never more than $19 a bottle. Minus the capital to finance a bricks-and-mortar expansion, the owners shot into cyberspace at www.winecountryonline.com.

Click through the front door and cybertaste the "Wine of the Month Club" selections for November: Cabernet-Merlot from Greg Norman Estates, "ripe and supple with a chocolate and tobacco edge." Or a sparkling brut from Pacific Echo, in which "tangy citrus aromas lead the way, followed by peach, pear, green apple and spice flavors."

Club dues are $29 per month, which includes two selections. (Pay an extra $5 a month if you want them shipped to your home). Sign up online, or do it the old-fashioned way and actually visit the shop in person.
