Whores – Clean
Brutal Panda Records
★★★★ (out of 5 stars)

As they’ve repeatedly proven live here in Orlando, Atlanta’s Whores are, if not the best, then certainly the most underrated noise-rock band alive today. And if you’ve seen one of their harrowing, incendiary performances, you’ll be pumped to know that they’ve captured an impressive amount of that dirty power in this ravaging mini-album. Dealing in exhilarating violence and rampaging heaviness, this record is kin to releases by bands like Unsane and Pissed Jeans, but with more concussive torque and searing clarity. Crank the simian corrosion of “Last Looks,” the slashing antagonism of “Baby Bird” or the towering stoner riffage of “I Am an Amateur at Everything” at your next basement fight club.
