Don’t fuck with Rubio
It seems that you are trying to pin Marco Rubio (“Victor Victoria,” Nov. 25) for the reasons why our economy is bad and why so many people lost their jobs. Funny thing is that he’s not in Washington yet and wasn’t part of that debacle. I believe that he was elected to bring that American dream back to everyone. We all need some kind of motivation and I believe and am willing to trust that he can do that. If he doesn’t deliver, then we can easily vote him out.
I have read this article twice now and do not see how you think Billy Manes is trying to “pin” the bad economy on Rubio. Huh?
Unfortunately, if Rubio and the GOP are able to pull us out of the great recession with conservatism and austerity measures, it will be just a matter of time before they are bashed for wanting to starve the poor and homeless, and for wanting to have non-stop orgies with the rich, gun makers and defense companies. They will be smeared with all the usual labels: sexist, racist, intolerant, bigoted, greedy, selfish, meat-eating, polluting and high-fructose corn syrup loving. All this while Barack Obama has played golf and taken more vacations more than any other president in history, given us health care reform the American people didn’t want, with a wife vacationing in Spain in pure luxury on the taxpayers’ dime while the U.S. has 10+ percent unemployment, George Soros spending millions to influence NPR, Google exploiting every tax loophole possible to pay a fraction of taxes in the U.S., and the beloved liberal corporation Apple led by Steve Jobs expanding production in China by hundreds of thousands of jobs to make all their gadgets, while millions of Americans are out of work.

In the 1960s, the media started marketing to the boomers (“Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, baby boomers please just die,” Beatdown, Nov. 16). They were told they were special, that they were important and that they were going to change the world. Of course the boomers believed every bit of it, and they became a whole generation of selfish, self-centered egotistical idiots. Then, to further their specialness, they title the following generation “X”. As in, faceless, nameless and nobody special. Then, of course after that is the Y generation – even less important than X, just the one after X and that’s all. The self-centered boomers have never done anything to improve things and they’re still the center of their own pointless universe. Why don’t you all f-f-f-fade away.
Who cares about the damn boomers! Why pander to a small segment of the population and placate their gross technical ineptitude by making a 50-year-old collection of Beatles music available for sale on their site, when any Gen Xer and younger would have pulled the CD off their parents’ shelves and ripped the damn thing a long time ago? I assume Jason Ferguson feels that more of Apple’s time, money and effort should be put toward perfecting Apple’s cloud technology (and if you boomers think its about making it rain in the deserts, just go put a bullet in your pointed head now) for our future, rather than negotiating for the last five years with Yoko Ono and Paul McCartney so they can cater to a bunch of people who will be either worm food or a constantly disoriented burden on their families in a decade anyways.
If iTunes put the collection out it was to make money and because they felt it was marketable, probably more so to boomers. The boomers have the money to spend. As for opinions, I have no problem with Jason Ferguson voicing a point of view, however, the title and tone were unnecessary to accomplish the point. As for the Beatles, I would never buy the collection as I listen primarily to trance and techno. But I do agree that anyone may voice an opinion. They are like assholes, everyone has one.
