Apart from the veggie haggis, be sure to try the following items at the Epcot Food & Wine Fest (Sept. 27-Nov. 11): griddled lobster tail with garlic herb butter at the Hops & Barley Marketplace; the kimchi dog with spicy mustard at the South Korea Marketplace; and the frozen s’mores beverage (I know what you’re thinking, but it’s pretty damn good).
Also at Disney, four food trucks – Enchanted Fare (serving faves from Disney Parks), the World Showcase of Flavors (featuring items from Epcot’s Food & Wine Fest), Superstar Catering (meatball options for the Hollywood set) and Namaste Café (Indian fare) – will roll into Downtown Disney (next to Bongo’s Cuban Café) beginning this fall.
On Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., Unleashed, Uncorked, Unframed – a fundraiser for the SPCA of Central Florida – takes place at the Quantum Leap Winery. Tickets are $100 per person and include dinner, wine and beer. Oh, and by the way: The event is for bipeds only. More information at orlandopets.org.
Jack in the Park, a fundraiser for the Special Olympics, features the finest that Winter Park restaurants (Prato, 4Rivers, Citrus, Christner’s and Mi Tomatina, to name just a few) have to offer, as well as an open bar. Suggested donation to enter the fête, 7-11 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Rachel D. Murrah Civic Center, is $100.
Oct. 6 will see chef Hari Pulapaka hosting a special Sunday meal dubbed India on the Farm, at Tomazin Farms in Samsula, Fla. Cost is $75, with seating limited to 100 guests … Yes, it’s more than two weeks away, but it’s never too early to reserve a seat at Infusion Tea’s Fall Harvest Vegan Dinner, Oct. 14. Cost is $39 and includes wine and tea pairings … Until Nov. 17, the Capital Grille is running a special at the bar: a wagyu burger paired with either a 2009 Silver Oak cab or a 2011 Belle Glos pinot noir for $25. Talk about raising the bar!
