Exit center stage


There it was last week, in a statement direct from Gov. Jeb Bush: Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood's proposed performing-arts center is a "turkey," undeserving of the $7.6 million slipped into the state budget to jump-start the project. Partisan ties failed the mayor; though both Bush and Hood are Republicans, the guv made the cut as part of $313 million in projects he vetoed from the state's $48.6 billion spending plan for the next budget year. Hood says she'll try again next year.
