Gathering food from the ground up

Considering how many alfresco greengrocers are in town, it's a wonder anybody goes to a supermarket.

There are at least 60 farmers markets happening every week in Florida, and we have some of the best. Tuesday means the Sanford Tuesday Morning Farmers Market which starts at 7 a.m. (407-892-1135). Sunday brings greens to Celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday is a treasure trove for those in Winter Park (7 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 407-623-3200) and downtown-Orlando shoppers (7 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 407-892-1135).

But the best news is the return of the College Park Grower's Market at Albert Park on Oct. 17 (407-649-3148), where Universal Garden Organic Farm, Seminole Springs Herb Farm and Adams Berry Farm join folks from the much-missed ECO-Store and Dragonfly Farm to offer organic produce, nuts, herbs and more.
