Good news for lovers of beer and burgers this week

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has broken ground on a new stand-alone building near the Orlando Premium Outlets. The Kansas-based joint opens in the fall offering lean-beef burgers, Chicago-style hot dogs and shoestring fries, along with freshly churned frozen custard. In other tourist-area burger news, Red Robin has opened its third Central Florida location on I-Drive.

Duffy’s Sports Grill, a craft beer and burger joint out of South Florida, will take over the former Crave space near the Mall at Millenia.

World of Beer has resumed buildout of their Post Parkside locale near Lake Eola, with a new projected fall opening. Attention, job hunters: They’re currently seeking a kitchen manager.

The Smiling Bison begins its foray into brunch this weekend, serving up bread pudding French toast alongside their twist on the usual biscuits & gravy and mimosas 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13. We're hoping for a breakfast poutine. 

Look for Itar, an Italian and Argentine bistro, to open in Veranda Park in MetroWest.

Napa Restaurant, at the Hyatt Regency (formerly Peabody) Hotel, hosts a four-course dinner featuring beers from Unibroue, the brewers of La Fin du Monde. Dinner is served 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 11. Cost is $70.

Marlow’s Tavern Winter Park hosts the “Smokin’ Saturday Celebration” block party bash 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 12.

As part of Audubon Park Garden District’s Bastille Day celebration, Tonda Corrente (La Femme du Fromage) hosts the third annual Artisan Cheese & Fine Wine Pairing fundraiser 5-7 p.m. Saturday, July 12. Advance tickets are $30.

Whole Foods Market in Winter Park holds its second annual Ice Cream Social 1-3 p.m. July 16. Whole Foods in Dr. Phillips holds a Summer Beer Sampling July 22.

The Mills Brewpub has opened in the former Bananas Modern American Diner space on Mills … Noodles & Co. has opened their second location in Dr. Phillips … Bikes, Beans & Bordeaux has expanded into the space next door … Keke’s Breakfast Café has opened its first location in Winter Springs.
