Oviedo Brewing Co. opens, Artisan's Table moves and more in Orlando foodie news



OPENINGS: Another week, another brewery opens. The Oviedo Brewing Co. is pouring in the Oviedo Mall, though many of their beers are still fermenting. That said, there is a limited selection of OBC beers available and guest tap beers as well ... The same folks who own the Hall on Franklin in downtown Tampa will open the Hall at the Yard at the Yard at Ivanhoe later this year ... Artisan's Table has moved from its East Pine Street location across Orange to West Church Street ... East End Market's La Femme du Fromage will open a second location in the North Quarter spot previously occupied by Pearson's Café sometime this spring ... Hinckley's Fancy Meats has opened across from La Femme du Fromage inside the East End Market ... Tre Bambine, a bàcaro serving wee Venetian-style finger foods and snacks, has opened on East Central Boulevard downtown ... The Imperial, another cocktail bar from Washburn Imports, will open in Winter Park Thursday, March 7 ... Sideward Brewing in the Milk District also opens March 7 ... Sus Hi Eatstation has moved into the old Mai Bistro space on East Colonial Drive in Mills 50 ... Gyroville, featuring build-your-own Greek dishes, has opened in the Reedy Plaza on East Colonial Drive near Dean Road.

NEWS/EVENTS: Josh Oakley, former chef-owner of the Smiling Bison, is now the executive chef of 1921 Mount Dora. Oakley takes over for Camilo Velasco, who left in December to be chef de cuisine at the Ravenous Pig ... Women in the Kitchen: A Celebration at Lake Meadow returns Sunday, March 10, from 3-6 p.m. featuring some of the finest chefs in the country, including Melissa Kelly, Ilma Lopez, Abra Berens, Whitney Otawka, Charleen Badman, Emily Luchetti, Liza Hinman, Katharine Elder, Jennifer Hostetter and host Kathleen Blake. Cost is $150 and includes pairings from Jackson Family Vineyards, beer by Crooked Can Brewery and cocktails from the Rusty Spoon. The event supports the James Beard Foundation's Women Entrepreneurial Leadership Program ... Beard in Baldwin, the popular walk-around food and wine fest in Baldwin Park, goes from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, March 30, in support of the James Beard Foundation National Scholars Program. Cost is $110, or $175 VIP.
