Poca's Hottest Annual Sauce Cook-Off

When: Sun., March 29, 1 p.m. 2015

If you’re into local music and hot sauce, you’re probably already aware of Poca’s Hottest. The brand, which recently opened a storefront in Artgeon, makes several varieties of condiments inspired by local musicians and artists, like Shak Nasti Cajun Honey Mustard or Kaleigh Baker’s Serenade Marinade. Now some of those artists are paying tribute back to the sauce maker by performing at their annual parking lot party cook-off. Fat Night, FunkUs, Jessy Lynn Martens and others will perform while local cooks bring dishes made with Poca’s Hottest products for a competition. You only get to help judge the competition if you pony up for the limited VIP ticket, but everyone gets to find their new favorite sauce by trying out the complimentary taco bar. Get up to $5 off the price of admission by bringing canned goods for the Fern Creek Elementary School Foundation’s food bank, but be sure to bring a lawn chair, as the asphalt of the parking lot is not the most comfortable place to rest after you fill up on tacos and beer.

Price: $12-$25
