Police Beat

March 8

(2010-113160) 3 p.m.: Hey, Kool-Aid! Someone took a golf cart on a joyride in Village Walk at Lake Nona and drove it through a foam-filled stucco wall. It all happened inside the gated community, with the cart abandoned in nearby woods. There's been a rash of vandalism around the place, according to the property manager.

March 9

(2010-113094) 9 a.m.: Somebody stole an amplifier from Saints Alive Church on Mercy Drive. Make your own joke about ironically pious expostulations.

(2010-113648) 5:40 p.m.: A teenager trying to sell shoes through Craigslist went to see some potential buyers in the 1100 block of South Hiawassee Road. Two guys in a light blue Nissan Maxima flashed cash, said they wanted to try on the shoes — then hit the gas. The shoe-seller didn't give up easily, hanging onto the roof and punching the car until they braked and bucked him off.

(2010-114149) 11:31 p.m.: The staff at Little's BBQ on South Parramore Avenue are a doughty bunch. When a guy pointed a gun and demanded money, they stared him down and he slunk away.

March 10

(2010-115054) 1 p.m.: A guy said his girlfriend stabbed him in the arm outside Boca Club Apartments on Orange Center Boulevard. But he only wanted to be patched up, and refused to press charges.

(2010-115750) 9:45 p.m.: A homeless man used a chunk of concrete to smash the glass at Family Dollar on West Gore Street, and took a box of bleach. Caught nearby, he kicked the cop.

March 11

(2010-115947) 12:05 a.m.: A woman hit a man on the head with a glass vase in a room at the Ambassador Hotel on West Colonial Drive. "Defendant got mad at the victim because he could not afford to buy her crack," according to Officer Remy Randall.

(2010-118710) 4 a.m.: A man said he was robbed at gunpoint while drunk on the corner of East Central Boulevard and Lake Street, but waited 13 hours to report it.

(2010-116601) 10:25 a.m.: Strange burglars at the office of attorney John P. Guidry II on North Magnolia Avenue. They took some spare change and a box of assorted cords, but "left behind many expensive electronics." I wonder if they need an adaptor?

(2010-117030) 4:04 p.m.: Another would-be burglar was scared off, this time from Highland Oaks on North Pine Hills Road, because the resident was home at the time.

March 12

(OCSO) 1:08 a.m.: Deputies found a man shot in the shoulder outside Cleo's Night Club on South Orange Blossom Trail. The manager said a five-man argument inside moved outside, and culminated in several gunshots.

(2010-117969) 5 a.m.: Someone did a thorough job on a 10-year-old Crown Victoria, stolen from the 1300 block of West Concord Street. It was found on Rock Lake Drive with its window broken, ignition punched, stereo gone, four rims missing, and up on blocks for good measure.

(2010-118700) 4:03 p.m.: A woman said a man tried to run over her in 4700 block of Southern Willow Lane. He drove a Dodge, she managed to dodge.

(2010-118990) 7:59 p.m.: Somebody broke into the U.S. Wall Décor warehouse on Kingspointe Parkway and took a flat-screen TV. That'll look nice on someone's wall.

March 13

(2010-119458) 1:02 a.m.: Three teenage boys were shot in the back seat of a car outside a house in the 3000 block of Herold Drive, but still felt good enough to chase the shooters as far as Good Homes Road and West Colonial Drive.

(2010-119746) 5:50 a.m.: Two women sleeping in the 4700 block of Bay Willow Court when two men broke in and robbed them.

(2010-119855) 8:17 a.m.: Some guys just can't win. A man was robbed in the 800 block of Long Street, and ran away. When he came back, someone had stolen his car too.

(2010-120072) 10 a.m.: Do guns deter burglars or attract them? From a house in the 100 block of East Harding Street, they scored one revolver, one automatic rifle and four shotguns.

(2010-120341) 5:15 p.m.: A woman "became aggressive" (duh) when police answered a domestic battery call at The Reserve at Rosemont on Rosewood Way. Tasing her once only made her angrier. "The officers then Tased the suspect 2 more times with no (e)ffect. The suspect pulled one of the officers to the ground by pulling her hair and arm then bit the officer on the arm." She managed to bite another cop before being arrested, according to Officer Finley Johnson.
