In the antiquated plaza across from UCF that's seen more permutations than Madonna, Pom Pom's Teahouse and Sandwicheria recently opened its second location. The new space is even more cozy and eclectic than the original ' love the chalkboard paint! ' but with a whole new clientele. Instead of Revolution-goers and socially conscious hipsters, the new Pom's is bustling with UCF coeds and faculty, all students of the art of tea and sandwich.
This location serves the same menu, though minus one of the Bumby mothership's best features: the cravable cupcakes, although the bread pudding of the day ($2.50) is just as worthy of devotion. Sink your teeth into a goat-cheesy Tuscan melt ($7) or pulled pork'and'slaw-laden Asian BBQ sandwich ($7). Enjoy the tea-vival, whether it's floral Raspberry Love ($2.50) or hibiscus-rooibos-oolong-honeydew-pumpkin spice; it's all here.
The new Pom Pom's is open until 5 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, so if you're into the East Orlando college scene, finish drinking at Knight Library and head a few doors down for off-downtown deliciousness.
