Strike any notion of a mid-May opening for the College Park PR’s Taco Palace. According to owner Perry Inman, the taquería will now open in July.
Brunch fans lamenting the closure of Bananas Modern American Diner on Mills Avenue can still catch the popular gospel brunch at the Funky Monkey in Pointe Orlando, Sundays at noon. Back in Mills 50, though, Bananas is being replaced by the Mills Brewpub and Eatery, which will feature craft beers, burgers, Belgian fries and the like. Look for it to open sometime in July as well.
In other brew pub news: BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse has opened on the corner of Sand Lake Road and I-Drive; the Burger & Beer Joint has moved into the former Culpepper’s space on University Boulevard; and work continues on the Orange Blossom Pilsner brew pub on Virginia Drive, slated to open this summer.
The newly opened Carmel Café & Wine Bar in Altamonte Springs is staging a Charity Night in support of Habitat for Humanity. For $45 per person, guests can enjoy dishes from Carmel’s menu, along with specialty cocktails and samplings from their wine list.
