“Two EPs I can’t seem to stop playing lately are We Are Trees’ 2010 debut, Boyfriend, and their follow-up, Girlfriend. A project of West Virginia’s James Nee, it’s apparent there’s something special about this group after hearing just one song. Although an immediate Grizzly Bear reference comes to mind at first listen (Nee’s voice is startlingly similar to Grizzly Bear’s frontman, Daniel Rossen), the group’s use of orchestral arrangements, dynamic range, unusual composition and strict attention to tonal detail help craft a distinct and captivating sound. Keep an eye on these guys.”

(An Introduction to Sunshine opens for Nashville’s Parachute Musical Thursday, April 14 at Will’s Pub. Strang’s primary band, Saskatchewan, can be found at saskatchewan.bandcamp.com)
