OPENINGS: The much-anticipated opening of the Edison, an industrial-gothic, electric company-themed restaurant inside Disney Springs, is slated for New Year's Eve. Patina Restaurant Group's other Disney Springs concepts – Maria & Enzo's, Enzo's Hideaway Tunnel Bar and Pizza Ponte – will open in early 2018 ... Look for Olea Mezze Grill to open its third location in the old Teriyaki Madness space in the Colonial Plaza early next year. Olea has locations in Maitland and Sanford as well ... Foodies Café, a casual breakfast-and-lunch spot with a focus on books and author events, is open on South Parramore Avenue ... Tandoori Bowl, a fast-casual Chipotle-like Indian joint, has opened on North Alafaya Trail in Oviedo ... The Rez Grill inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel near Tampa has opened. The kitchen is manned by Frank Anderson, who previously ran the kitchens at James Beard Award-winning Animal and Son of a Gun in L.A.
CLOSINGS: Two Chefs Seafood Oyster Bar in the North Quarter has closed. Chef-owners Bernard Caramouche and Larry Sinibaldi have ended the partnership, though Caramouche and the Beacon Hill Group will continue to operate Muddy Waters in South Eola.
NEWS: Maggiano's Little Italy at Pointe Orlando have scored themselves a Coravin system, so they're making all the wines on their extensive list available by the glass.
EVENTS: The Alfond Inn and Belvedere present the Bubbles and Ice Bash Saturday, Dec. 30, from 8 p.m. to close. The New Year's Eve Eve soiree will feature drink specials on Belvedere Vodka, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, Veuve Clicquot and Rosé. The event will also have a DJ, ice luge, and champagne fountain. Admission is free ... The Christmas Day feast at Highball & Harvest will see Southern-inspired dishes prepared by chef Scott Pizzo and a raw bar along with live entertainment. Meals will be served from noon to 9 p.m. Cost is $115 ($45 for children 12 and under).
