The Bar Tab

Looks like Orlando clubgoers will get to have one last hurrah before the Mayan calendar blinks out the world, as the city’s bar scene has come down with a serious case of happy feet. Two new(ish) dance clubs are opening their doors in February. The first is Firestone Live, which is ditching its New Coke concert venue persona and returning to its roots as Club Firestone, where house, hip-hop and electronica will rule the roost once again. Also opening this month: Tier Nightclub, a two-level, dual-identity club that’s taking over the spot that used to be Icon. The club’s claim to combine New York chic with Miami posh sounds a bit pushmi-pullyu, especially for Orlando nightlife. But the promise of “celebrity clientele not yet experienced in Central Florida” has the tone of a dare, so color us intrigued.
